Full Harvest Super Blood Moon and Lunar Eclipse, Sunday, September 27th

Full Moon & Lunar Eclipse
The full moon at 4 degrees Aries on Sunday September 27th is also a total lunar eclipse.

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aries – September 27, 2015 – I Will Not Be Manipulated

chart of eclipse

"An eclipse is a far more potent lunation. Look to the house the eclipse falls in your natal chart. The affairs of that house will be activated. Does the eclipse fall on a planet in your natal chart? That planet will also be activated. The sign of the eclipse plays a role in the likely events that the eclipse will trigger.

Many people tend to fear eclipses, simply because they often bring about a crisis of sorts that leads to a significant event or change. However, this event or change can be very positive.
Eclipses are tied to changing circumstances. However, we are usually the ones to precipitate or to attract changes because our "inner guides" know that we need it. Human beings are progressive by nature, and although we might stay in situations that are making us miserable for longer than we should, deep down inside we know that change is necessary for growth."

What is a Super Moon?

"A Supermoon is a full Moon or a new Moon at its closest point to Earth; also called perigee. A Supermoon looks around 12 to 14% bigger than its counterpart, the Micromoon. A Supermoon can be full or new."

What is a Blood Moon?

"Most of us in astronomy had not heard the term Blood Moon to describe a lunar tetrad until a few years ago, but now the term has gained widespread use in the media. The origin of the term is religious, at least according to Christian pastor John Hagee, who wrote a 2013 book about Blood Moons. We at EarthSky don’t have any special knowledge about the Blood Moons of Biblical prophesy. But, since they’re moons and since people are asking us, we wanted to provide some info. Follow the links below to learn more about Blood Moons."

"Although it's completely in the shadow of Earth, a bit of reddish sunlight still reaches the moon.
"That red light shining onto the moon is sunlight that has skimmed and bent through Earth's atmosphere: that is, from all the sunrises and sunsets that ring the world at any given moment," according to Alan MacRobert of Sky and Telescope magazine.
The total eclipse will start at 10:11 p.m. EDT (7:11 p.m. PDT) Sunday evening and will last one hour and 12 minutes. It will be visible across North and South America, Europe, Africa, and parts of West Asia and the eastern Pacific, NASA said.
Weather permitting, folks in the eastern half of North America can watch every stage of the eclipse, from beginning to end of the partial phases, with the moon mostly high in the sky, Sky and Telescope reports."  http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/sciencefair/2015/09/21/lunar-eclipse-supermoon-blood-moon/72572664/

You can always look at "This Week in Astrology" at Cafe Astrology to see if there is a significant lunation in the week.

What Sign is the Moon in?

First we can consider the sign that the Moon is in, in general.  The moon changes sign about every 2.5 days, taking a lunar month to traverse the sky and our charts.
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to start something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
Eclipse in Aries

Aries: sudden, dramatic, immediate, quick

Aries Full Moon

When the moon is full in Aries, it can be about receiving recognition and results, as well as feeling energetic and possibly romantic.

Full Moon for your Sun or Rising Sign

http://www.astrology.com/full-moon-horoscopes/2-d-d-564091 (this link was specific to a different full moon though)

Look at both, but preferrably your Rising sign.  For me, my Sun is in Scorpio and my Rising is Sagittarius:

Scorpio & Scorpio Rising
"Consider" comes from the Latin "consīderāre", meaning to observe, or go with the stars. For thousands of years, we considered that what was above reflected what was below. Thousands. Now horoscopes are one of the most popular things to read and yet astrology itself is generally seen as archaic superstition. Astrology is seen this way in part because it is easily disproved by science and that is because it isn’t one. It’s a meditation; a contemplation and, yes, it hopefully gives us pause long enough to consider what our next right action could be...
Sagittarius & Sagittarius Rising
Remember all the creative brilliance that I was waxing poetic about last week? Well this is the week for its manifestation. Bearing in mind that creativity is born out of chaos, this week could feel like an out of control science experiment or just the right amount of wowzas. It’s not all happening on the external plane though...

What is happening at the lunations?

Every new moon (and full moon) is different because it falls in a different sign.  When the moon is new it is in the same sign as the Sun because, by definition, they are conjunct and the moon is between the earth and the sun.  When the moon is full it is in the opposite sign from the Sun because, by definition, they are the farthest from each other, with the earth between them.

What is happening at a lunar eclipse?

  1. A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth's shadow blocks all the Sun's light from directly reaching the Moon's surface. Eclipses of theMoon happen when the Sun, Earth and Moon are aligned to form an almost or exact straight line.

What house is the full moon in your chart?

So an important thing to consider is the house in your natal chart where the lunation is falling, as well as any planets that might be nearby.

So you will need to look at your chart.  I recommend pulling it up at http://astro.com (use the free extended charts, natal and transits option) or you can order from me.

Here is my chart showing the Moon opposing the Sun. 9/27:

my chart

Not sure what all those glyphs (symbols) mean?

So for me, the moon falls in my 3rd house on the cusp of my 4th.  You can look up the meaning here, among other places: Full Moon in the Houses

Example
Full Moon in the Third House
The last two weeks have found you somewhat restless and in need ofmore from life than the mundane. Now the mundane is catching up with you. Errands need to be run, people are talking your ear off, you need to do some paperwork and answer calls. An important document could arrive, or a sudden need to run an important errand or to take a short trip could be part of the picture. You are pushed to find a balance now. Do what needs to be done so that you can free yourself up for more adventurous and fulfilling activities.
Full Moon in the Fourth House
The last two weeks have found you working hard towards your career goals and other public matters. The demands of your personal life are now paramount. Striking a balance between energy spent on work and energy spent on domestic matters is essential now. Balanced attention to your public and personal lives is what you need to focus on. It's time to prioritize. Otherwise, you run the risk of over-extending yourself. A home, family, or property matter could grab your complete attention at this time.

From the New Moon, through the First Quarter Moon until the Full Moon, the moon is said to be waxing, which means the light is increasing.  From the Full Moon, through the Last Quarter Moon until the next New Moon, the moon is said to be waning, or reducing in light.

Be a Closet Astrologer

"While the sun and moon are in the same energetic sign at a new moon, they are in opposite ones at the full moon. We feel this tension, but it's also a time of fruition and manifestation of the intentions we set at the previous new moon. We've been working with that intent, perhaps that we made about our closet, but now we have a chance to integrate it in a deeper way. Now we are ready to move from blueprint to building the house. We have planned out our new closet organizational design, purchased the hangars and shelves, and now we are ready to take the action of putting it all together.  While we created symbolic imagery at the new moon, we may want to make a more three dimensional expression at the full moon. This could be an altar or it could be making your closet into an altar!"

When the Moon is Full in Aries, we are energetic and enthusiastic.. Take a look at what you wrote about, designed or imagined (or made images of) at that time. What have you or can you put into action?

Solar Eclipse in Virgo Sept. 13th

Solar Eclipse

This Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015,  we will have a New Moon at 20 degrees Virgo that is also a partial Solar Eclipse, opposing Chiron in Pisces.

  • Look for personal planets in your chart
  • 16-24 Virgo, Gemini, Sag, Pisces
  • 16-24 Aries, Libra, Cancer or Cap

What sign is the Moon in?

First we can consider the sign that the Moon is in.  The moon changes sign about every 2.5 days, taking a lunar month to traverse the sky and our charts.

When the Moon is in Virgo
We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead. The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.

When the Eclipse is in Virgo
Virgo: prolitariate, liver, thyroid . Earth Eclipses: grains, earth/dust storms

Setting Your New Moon intention when there is an Eclipse

Normally we want to set our intentions for the next month on the New Moon or just after it becomes exact, watching to not do it when the moon is void of course.  When there is an eclipse we want to wait about 48 hours because the energy is intensified.  You may want to wait until we feel more grounded, September 15th.

"This is the best time of the month to observe faint objects such as galaxies and star clusters because there is no moonlight to interfere."

What's happening at a Solar Eclipse?

Total eclipses occur when the Moon lines up with the Sun exactly.

What house will the new moon fall into on your chart?

What house is this moon occuring in for your natal chart?

So an important thing to consider is the house in your natal chart where the lunation is falling, as well as any planets that might be nearby.

So you will need to look at your chart.  I recommend pulling it up at http://astro.com (use the free extended charts, natal and transits option) or you can order from me.

Here is the section of my chart showing the Moon (conjunct the Sun) on 9/13:

Solar Eclipse New Moon in my 9th house

Not sure what all those glyphs (symbols) mean?

So for me, the moon falls in my 9th house.  You can look up the meaning here, among other places: New Moon in the Houses and Solar Eclipse in the Houses.

Example
New Moon in the Ninth House
The ninth house rules our spirit to grow, explore, and expand beyond the "regular" experiences in our lives. The New Moon here may bring some restlessness and dissatisfaction with regular routines. Make an effort to initiate new projects or activities that expand your mind, feed your spirit for adventure, and stretch your imagination. You may feel renewed by a new perspective on your life, something philosophical or spiritual that you read or learn, or an adventure that takes you away from the mundane routines in your life.

Solar Eclipse in Ninth House
The focus is on the development of abstract or intangible thought. Questions of morality, ethics, religious practices, and philosophical issues are addressed in an attempt to develop a personal guide; a foundation and a sense of structure for living life. During Solar Eclipse's influence, higher education, cultural expansion, and travel experiences play a part in the individual's exploration for wisdom and truth.

From the New Moon, through the First Quarter Moon until the Full Moon, the moon is said to be waxing, which means the light is increasing.  From the Full Moon, through the Last Quarter Moon until the next New Moon, the moon is said to be waning, or reducing in light.

Balsamic Moon: 10 ½ days after the Full Moon, up to the New Moon, or 2.5 days before.  So we are entering the Balsamic Phase soon.  "If this is your Moon phase, you see in the dark. You're at home when enveloped in mysteries, especially the ultimate mystery - death. Your life purpose is to tie up loose ends, and create a nutrient-rich environment for the new to germinate."

Be a Closet Astrologer

The magical energy of the new moon is for setting new intentions (though wait 48 hours due to the eclipse). You can use it to commit to new ways you are going to be creative or develop something new in your life. You can use this time to dream your closet. What do you want to fill it with? What do you want to draw in to you? How is your closet feeling energetically for you? is it supporting you? What is needed to enhance this? This is a great time to build your pinterest boards, create polyvores or even make photoshop collages or paper ones.

Since this new moon is in Virgo, this is a practical time for reorganizing! The magical energy of an eclipse is for releasing things from your life, so this is also a time to cull your closet to make room for the new.
