The quick method to comparing your chart with someone else:
- First you need to go to http://astro.com and create an account.
- http://www.astro.com/cgi/genchart.cgi extended chart selection
- Enter your birth data into your list of charts.
- Enter the other person's birth data into your list of charts.
- yes, you need the time of birth for both people
- if you must create a chart for the other person with a guess, use noon, but then you will only be able to do the synastry one way
- Now you can enter one person as the main chart and the second person as the partner.
- Select "synastry chart (2)"
- Then switch the order.
- What you are looking at is the other person's planets in your sky, and vice versa.

You can run SYNASTRY charts both directions. Or if you do not have your mother's time of birth, you can run a Synastry chart with her planets in your houses.
