What is happening at the lunations?

When the moon is new it is in the same sign as the Sun because, by definition, they are conjunct and the moon is between the earth and the sun. When the moon is full it is in the opposite sign from the Sun because, by definition, they are the farthest from each other, with the earth between them.

- A solar eclipse happens when the moon moves in front of the Sun as seen from a location on Earth. During a solar eclipse, it gets dimer and dimmer outside as more and more of the Sun is covered by the Moon. During a total eclipse, the entire Sun is covered for a few minutes and it becomes very dark outside.
