Last Full Moon of 2016

The Full Cold Moon will occur on Dec. 13th, 2016, at 22 degrees Gemini.  The Moon is at 22 degrees Gemini, opposite the Sun at 22 degrees Sagittarius. The Moon at that degree is represented by Clear Apophylite (keyword Gregariousness) and the Sun at that degree is represented by Jelly Opal (keyword Seclusion).

"Gemini and Sagittarius are the local sprite and wandering sage of the Zodiac, respectively. They are a polarity which is a unique current of opposites, that can be experienced as extremes."

The Moon in Gemini will be in an Air Grand Trine formation with Mars at 25 Aquarius, represented by Chalcedony Rosette (keyword Uniqueness), and Jupiter at 18 Libra, represented by Californite (keyword Consequence).

"The signs Gemini, Libra and Aquarius making up [a] grand trine each manifest different aspects of the element air: ideas, abstract thought, logic, relationship to and association with others, intellect, clear, objective vision, and that which is facile and quick."

The Sun is conjunct Saturn at 19 Sagittarius, represented by an Enhyrdro Agate (Frontier). Both are squaring Chiron at 20 Pisces, represented by Pewter (Familiarity).

"Transiting Sun conjunct Saturn: Focusing on what is most important keeps details from impeding your progress. More serious now than usual, you are wise to set a course to achieve a long-term objective. If you have been experiencing difficulties in your life recently, this time can make you deeply aware of their impact. Use that awareness to establish realistic goals that you can accomplish. Where a problem lingers, commit to resolve it. If a task is unfinished, pursue its completion."

Mercury is at 12 Capricorn, represented by Maw Sit Sit (keyword Explanation; which I don't have, so I have Jade there), conjunct Pluto at 16 Capricorn, represented by Oolite (keyword Animation). These planets square the opposition of Uranus and Jupiter.

"Transiting Mercury conjunct Pluto: Possessing a strong opinion, you may be compelled to speak-and forced to listen. Communicating your thoughts and feelings in whatever way is appropriate can provide a needed release. This often is an intense day for mental activity. With concerted effort, you can diminish the power of certain thoughts over you while increasing your power to think for yourself. Personal issues benefit from probing self-analysis and fearlessness of what you will uncover."

Venus is at 7 Aquarius, represented by Dragonstone/Septarian (keyword Essential). Neptune is at 9 Pisces still, represented by Yellow Jasper (keyword Practice), and is opposing the North Node at 6 Virgo, represented by Cassisterite (keyword Diversion; I have a garnet here standing in).

"Although you may achieve unparalleled success at this time, the wheel of fortune may turn in unforeseen ways bringing a sudden shift in your direction. Significant changes can occur now where you can make a 180-degree turn in certain areas. Disruptions are likely as discontinuity is a feature to this cycle. Despite the inconsistency, the time is appropriate for progress even for exceptional expansion, but it sometimes comes too fast and too soon, making it difficult to manage." futureminders.com

Uranus is still at 20 Aries, represented by Rhodochrosite  (keyword Hospitality), opposing Jupiter.

I have a rainbow Moonstone to represent the full moon.

You can always look at "This Week in Astrology" at Cafe Astrology to see if there is a significant lunation in the week.

What Sign is the Moon in?

First we can consider the sign that the Moon is in, in general.  The moon changes sign about every 2.5 days, taking a lunar month to traverse the sky and our charts.

When the Moon is in Gemini
Our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and learn under the influence of Moon in Gemini. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle. The Moon in Gemini generally favors the following activities: Mental and communicative actions, and more than one activity at once. Reading, learning, letters and emails, errands, writing, teaching, making connections, short trips.

What is happening at the lunations?

Every new moon (and full moon) is different because it falls in a different sign.  When the moon is new it is in the same sign as the Sun because, by definition, they are conjunct and the moon is between the earth and the sun.  When the moon is full it is in the opposite sign from the Sun because, by definition, they are the farthest from each other, with the earth between them.

So an important thing to consider is the house in your natal chart where the lunation is falling, as well as any planets that might be nearby.

So you will need to look at your chart.  I recommend pulling it up at http://astro.com (use the free extended charts, natal and transits option) or you can order from me.

Not sure what all those glyphs (symbols) mean?

So for me, the moon falls in my 7th house.  You can look up the meaning here, among other places: Full Moon in the Houses

Example
Full Moon in the Seventh House
The New Moon was all about you. Now it’s time to strike a balance with an “other”. The seventh house represents an important one-to-one relationship–a marriage partner, significant other, business partner, or an adversary. It’s time to strike a balance between your own needs and those of another. It’s time to compromise and negotiate. Partnership “tests” are possible now, but so is a chance to truly connect to a special someone in your life.
